Travel WiFi Hotspot
When we traveled to Great Britain the first time in 2017, we set our Verizon plan to an International plan. It worked, but I thought there was a better way to do this.
I did some research, and decided that a mobile hotspot that was designed to communicate with the Great Britain cell towers would work better. I landed on TravelWifi for this. It has been working great on a number of trips all over the British Isles.
During our December 2024 trip to London, the hotspot would not connect to the cell towers. I reached out to their technical support while I was at the airport. It took a while, but they sent me instructions that fixed the issue.
When we went to Ireland in March of 2025, the same issue appeared. I tried the solution that they gave from the past December, but it did not work. We connected Gwyn's phone to the Verizon International plan, and I got an eSim. That worked, but the TravelWifi never did.
They did do the right thing and refunded the money for the days that we did not use it.
For our upcomgin trip to Silverstone, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin this summer, I am going to try Hippocket Wifi. We will see if that works better.
